Dear friends of Tanzania and well-wishers of HIMS!

In the name of the charitable organization HIMS (Health Integrated Multisectoral Services) in Arusha and personally in my name, I, Mackrine Shao-Rumanyika would like to greet you most cordially!

My work and my daily activities at HIMS deal with the socio-economic measures for disadvantaged groups in society. These include single mothers, orphan children, AIDS-victims, street children, unemployed youth, as well as target groups whose human rights have been or are being violated based on old, discriminatory traditions. These groups include women and girls who have been affected by the practice of genital mutilation (circumcision).

I have been carrying out awareness-training with the Massai and other target groups since 1993. At first, I worked for the diocese of Arusha, then for the organization NAFGEM; I started my current work for HIMS in July 2005. HIMS is a non-profit, non-governmental association which relies on financial help from abroad and which is already being supported people in Germany.

Till now, your donations have been used primarily for personal loans for business start-ups, for the further training of so-called multiplicators (people who promote the ideas of HIMS) and for the awareness-training in various Massai villages. In order that HIMS may continue to pursue its goals and work effectively, we require your support in the future as well and are extremely grateful for every donation.

It was with concerted energy and drive that we were able to set up an account for HIMS in Germany a while ago and create a contact point, from which we will be able to operate more effectively in the future. Now, we have been able to set up our internet site where you will be able to gain more information about HIMS and its work in various projects in Tanzania. We will be expanding this homepage with current information on a step-by-step basis. Here, you will also be able to see what donations have been received and what the money was used for.
